Online Subscription Offers
September 2nd, 2010 Posted in Technology | No Comments »Several companies such as Viacom Inc., Time Warner Inc., and Sony Corp and a few more major media companies accordingly were approached by the famous streaming company, Amazon as it tries to offer its newest deal on unlimited viewing for older collection of movies and TV shows online. A Yahoo article by Ryan Nakashima shares this big news as he later mentioned it to be the latest strategy of Amazon trying to keep up with Apple Inc.’s iTunes a la carte store and Netflix Inc.’s all-you-can-eat subscription plan. Talks are temporarily made unavailable for the public as deals are still ongoing; but one thing’s for sure, these talks mainly centers on deals for the new service and it is even planned to be linked to the $79 per year plan Amazon Prime membership.
On the other side of the talk, Apple is also venturing in a similar business as it accordingly is expected to share a new TV offering, cutting the price of it’s Apple TV device, and some changes made over iTunes. Like Amazon, it also offers aired TV shows for only 99 cents from both The Walt Disney Co.’s ABC and News Corp.’s Fox. To include, we also have Time Warner’s TV Everywhere plan where it gives unlimited online access to the most current seasons of particular TV shows. Lastly, Hulu is also catching up it has its $10-a-month subscription TV plan way back June offering both current and past seasons of some shows.
